Abstract
In contemporary times, it has become inevitable that dawah (Islamic preaching) has evolved into a part of what is known as harakah, or political movement activities, particularly with the rise of dawah on social media platforms. This trend is especially notable among those engaged as dawah activists. This study aims to analyze the content of political Islam messages on the Instagram account @follback.dakwah. The current reality shows that the dawah activities conducted by these activists, especially on social media platforms like Instagram, have also become a means to introduce and disseminate opinions related to Islamic ideology. The primary focus of this study is to analyze the content of political Islam messages in the Instagram account @follback.dakwah, which engages in dawah activities that integrate political elements within Islam, known as harakah. This study identifies that the dawah is not solely for spreading religious teachings but also carries a political agenda aimed at influencing society with Islamic ideology. The research method used is content analysis with a quantitative approach to the content posted by the @follback.dakwah account. Data was collected by documenting the posts, which were then analyzed using identity politics theory to identify the political messages contained within. The main findings of this research reveal that the Instagram account @follback.dakwah employs a dawah strategy that not only focuses on disseminating religious teachings but also includes significant political aspects. Islamic identity is used as a tool to garner support and construct a strong political narrative about the importance of the Khilafah (Caliphate) system of governance. The study shows that the account effectively uses social media to spread political Islam, with the primary goal of promoting the implementation of the Khilafah system. This study contributes both theoretically, by enriching the literature on identity politics and political Islam, and practically, by providing insights for dawah activists to understand and manage the political influence within their dawah activities.
