Abstract
Learning is a system consisting of various components that are interconnected with each other. Democratic education must be able to create interaction between teachers and students in the learning process. The aim is to explore students' abilities to play an active role, improve their intellectual abilities, attitudes and interests. Effective learning strategies depend on teachers using learning models, because a learning strategy can only be implemented through the use of learning models. The use of varied learning models can also be carried out in the classroom, with the aim of bridging student needs and avoiding boredom experienced by students. A learning model that involves students such that students will dig up information themselves, solve problems from a concept being studied (student centered). This will certainly stimulate student activity during learning activities. Based on observations at SMTI Padang Vocational School in the subject Creative Products and Entrepreneurship - Essential Oil Technology (PKK-TMA), teachers still use the lecture model to explain lessons to students. The use of this conventional learning model causes students to be less enthusiastic about the lessons being taught and often talk to their classmates. This snowball throwing learning model is included in the cooperative learning model category. Cooperative learning is meant in this case as learning that is structured through small groups of students who work together to maximize learning conditions to achieve learning goals. The concept of group learning, the level of success depends on the abilities and activities of group members, both individually and as a group. According to Komalasari (2013), the snowball throwing learning model is a learning model that explores students' leadership potential in groups and question answering skills combined through an imaginative game of forming and throwing snowballs. Meanwhile, according to Hafidz (2016), the snowball throwing learning model is a learning activity model that gives individuals the opportunity to have an opinion, then combined in pairs, in groups, and which ends classically to get the views of all the students or students in the class. Implementation of learning using the snowball throwing learning model can improve the learning outcomes of class XII.1A students in the Creative Products and Entrepreneurship subject - Essential Oil Technology (PKK-TMA). This can be seen in cycle 1 the number of students who completed their studies was 41%, with an average student score of 70.5, while in cycle 2 there was an increase to 94% of students with an average score of 82.1. Increased activity and learning outcomes after The application of the snowball throwing learning model can be used as consideration by teachers to use this learning model both in the subjects of Creative Products and Entrepreneurship - Essential Oil Technology (PKK-TMA) or in other subjects. To increase student activity and learning outcomes, several stages can be carried out, namely the planning stage, action stage and reflection stage.
